Can any moms vouch for robitussin cough syrup helping conceive?
16.February, 2010
I read that robitussin cough syrup helps the cervical mucous more favorable for the sperm, are there any moms that have tried this? and what kind of robitussin do you use, is there only 1 kind?
Tink’s Mommy is right.
A friend told me the same. She had problems with her CM not being good quality. She said the porblems she had "wasn’t anything a few teaspoons of Robitussin couldn’t cure." I laughed and said "OK, teaspoon a day!"
Well, I did not have a chance to try it…I got pregnant that night. No medical intervention or other magical stuff…just the good old fashioned way.
Get your hands on the book Taking Charge of Your Fertility. It’s an awesome book.
how to cure a yellow phlegm cough?
14.February, 2010
i’ve benn coughing since yesterday…………with yellow phlegm…..can you advice me a cure?
Go see a doctor; it sounds like you have an infection. I’ve had a couple of these and I know it’s not fun; a doctor will give you some antibiotics to take, usually enough for 10 days. You will see significant improvements in 2-3 days.
How to separate sugar from cough syrup?
14.February, 2010
Can i know how to separate sugar from cough syrup other than using the separation method of chromatography. This method has to be used in the industries to detect sugar in cough syrup.
Doing this will not extract all of the sugar. I would not recommend this,
My 5 month old coughs every few minutes when lying down. What to do?
14.February, 2010
My 5 month old has developed double ear infection and is right now on medicine. She is right now doing well. However at night when we lay her down she coughs every few minutes. I don’t think it is related to the infection, but I don’t know as I am a new mother. I gave her a sip of water to clear her throat but that has not helped. I’ve tried sitting up slightly but that does not help just a little bit.
Try Vicks Waterless Vaporizer and a cool mist humidifier. The air in your home may not have much humidity causing her to cough.
chronic cough? asthma? bronchitis? TB?
14.February, 2010
so i got sick about three and a half a week ago, or well i started coughing and thought it was my seasonal asthma. I didnt get an inhaler until a week after to which then i started getting a sore throat, wheezing, no fever, couldnt sleep for two nights because of the cough, it was always worse when i laid down. i went to the doctor then and they told me i had a viral infection so i stayed home and rested. it was a week later when i started feeling better, less coughing, but still there. I started to loose my voice and then i had a click in my throat. I went back to the doctor for the click and they were stumped and didnt know what it was. the doctor said it could have been allergies so she gave me claritin to stop the cough. It did stop it for a while, but it still persists. It feels like i have to cough every second.
anyone know what I may have? any suggestions? thanks in advance.
you probably do have or had a viral flu, all the symptoms seem there. however the "clik"? sound is something else. my guess would be that you have something trapped around the epiglottic opening to your trachea, or perhaps something in the tracheal area. not knowing what you mean by a clik in your throat and not being able to visualize or hear it makes it impossible to be anything but guessy at your problem. however if your doctor seemed unconcerned with it, not even getting an xray, then i’d go to another for evaluation. an inhaler doesnt seem like the correct treatment for the clik issue. probably nothing at all. the flu issue has been troublesome, especially the persistent cough. also lasting fatigue and malaise

Whats a safe and natural way to control a cough?
07.February, 2010
So, last night I was up half the night coughing, but I was afraid to take any medicated cough syrup because I’m pregnant and I’m not sure what is safe, and what isn’t. Are there any natural cough remedies that I could take before bedtime to cut down on all the coughing?
P.S- I did make some hot tea with honey in it, and that seemed to help a little. Looking for other suggestions.
Put Vicks vaporub all over the bottoms of your feet, then some thick socks. Sleep tight!
Is there a good treatment for a bad consistant dry cough?

Been going on for 4 days now!

SINUSES, NOSE, THROAT, AND LUNGS:
Boil some salty water in a pot on the stove. Turn off the burner. Blow your nose & cough out some phlegm. Make a steam hood by draping a small-to-medium-sized towel over your head & the pot. Breathe the salty steam in your nose, out your mouth several times. Breathe some in your mouth & out your nose a few times as well. Blow your nose often. Keep this up until the steam stops. You can do this trick a few times throughout the day until you feel better. Salt is great.
OVER THE COUNTER MEDS TO TRY:
**Sinus decongestant: Phenylephrine 5mg. You don’t necessarily need all the extras it’s often mixed with.
**Expectorant: Guaifenisen (Mucinex is the brand name, but it’s way cheaper at dollar stores. Always read ingredients!!) liquefies your mucus so it’s much easier to expel. But you have to drink TONS of water or it won’t work, & you must be near a bathroom because it makes you pee a lot. (yet causes constipation… another reason to stay hydrated!)
**Pain, inflammation, body aches, headache, fever: Ibuprofen (Advil) should be alternated with Acetaminophen (Tylenol).
IMPORTANT! IMMUNE SYSTEM SUPPORT:
-Stay home. (even one day can make a difference. plus, you’ll keep your germs to yourself.)
-Sleep!!
-Drink plenty of water. (8 8oz servings a day=bare minimum!! pee out those germs & flush ‘em away!!)
-Take vitamin C, zinc, and echinacea.
-Eat garlic. (sorry, but it really is great for your health! and it will give you a good reason to stay home. hehe)
-Wash hands well & often. Moisturize skin to keep from cracking your hands to bits.
-Avoid milk & chocolate, which thicken your mucus and make your fight that much harder.
-Moderate exercise helps too!
NOTE: the meds and garlic are harsh, so don’t take them on an empty or upset stomach.
COUGHING FITS:
>DAY: Mucinex and water. (generic is fine, and cheap!) Cough it out while you’re awake.
>NIGHT: Delsym (cough suppressant, DEXTROMETHORPHAN). Get some restful, coughless sleep.
HOMEMADE EXPECTORANTS: Mix very hot water, cayenne pepper, white vinegar, and honey. >GARGLE & SPIT OUT!!!!!!!<
Or drink hot water with lemon and honey.
NOTE: I am not a doctor or nurse. Consult a medical professional to tailor any of the above suggestions to your particular circumstances, especially taking into consideration your weight, age, health, whether you’re pregnant or nursing. FEEL BETTER SOON!!
What are the effects of drinking regular cough syrup and sprite?
02.February, 2010
Cuz ppl I know drink regular cough syrup and sprite, but I’m pretty sure if it’s not prescribed it doesn’t do anything.
It gets them "high" depending on how much of the syrup they put in it.
The ingredient they look at is Dextromethorphan.
