Is a dog with Kennel cough still contagious on medicine for it?

Only vets or people who know a lot about dogs answer please. I fostered a dog who I learned had kennel cough she passed it to my 16 yr old dog and I want to know if he can pass it to other dogs while I have him on Doxycyline?
yes the affected animal will continue to shed the bacteria for 6 to 14 weeks and can spread the disease to other susceptible animals during that time
Clinical signs of infections occur 2-14 days after exposure, and if uncomplicated with other agents, symptoms will last around 10 days.

Yes! You must continue the medicine and take the dog back to the vet for another diagnosis.
There are shots for Kennel Cough you know!

I have worked at a Dog Daycare for 2 years. And we require all dogs to be up on vaccinations.
Your dog has the Bordatella virus, kennel cough, and even on medicine, it is remotely contagious. Even a healthy dog that gets the Bordatella vaccine (even if it shows no symptoms), can pass that kennel cough to another dog for about 3-5 days (even if that other dog has been vaccinated, since bordatella vaccinations vary so greatly)
I wouldn’t worry about spreading it to other dogs if it has been on meds for a while and symptoms are almost gone, but if you got the meds today/yesterday, it can probably pass it on. Depends on the other dogs immune systems
