I don't always cough after I begin to eat bread, potatoes, or some other starchy food, but occasionally I do. What will happen is I will take a bite of bread or casserole (or whatever) and immediately begin coughing for a while. I won't be able to stop coughing until I get a break between coughs long enough to take a sip of water. This doesn't happen every time I eat starchy food. Do you have any ideas what may be going on?
