My cat is 4 years old and coughing up excessive fur balls.
Is there any medicines she can take to reduce the amount of fur balls she produces.

You can buy a hairball control cat food – they sell different brands at most pet stores.

You can also buy a hairball control medicine that comes in a tube. I give my cat some twice a week – just put some on my finger and she licks it up – it’s chicken-flavored.

Also, you can brush her more often, too, to get control of the shedding. (if you aren’t brushing her at all, you should start)

You need to comb your cat every day, twice a day, and go to your local pet shop or veterinarian to get hair ball formula. There is different brands so talk to your vet for the best one.

    Kittymalt hairball remedy

    or Petromalt

they are hairball "gels" your cat can lick up and will lubricate their insides and help pass along hair.

you can also buy a little cat grass plant for your cat (if she is 100% indoors) to chew on and help pass along furballs.

Groom her often. Also, I suggest using Nutrimalt (available at Pet stores).

the best thing you can do is try and groom her everyday. The more hair you can get off of her, the less she’s going to lick off when she goes to groom herself. Hope this helps. I found a site that suggests that one of the tricks you can use is to add liquid paraffin to your cat’s food. You just need to add about a teaspoon once every one to two weeks. You can buy it here for 8 bucks: https://www.allinkosher.com/p-37406-hollowick-liquid-candle-wax-pure-clean-pure-liquid-paraffin-wax-32-oz.aspx

You could brush your cat every 3 days if its a short hair and once a day if long haired. My nans cat take these biscuits specially for fur balls and they are REALLY good they’re called at home, and you buy them at Tesco, you cat also by some cat grass from Asda which also is quite good as it has vitamin D.
There is also this thing which comes in a tube called Laxatone you put it on your finger or spoon and let your cat lick it off although it’s a little expensive but cats love the taste.

    Hope this helped ya.

There are foods and treats available, but the best defense against furballs is regular grooming. The Furminator completely eliminated furballs in my cat.
