What is the difference between whooping cough and normal cough?

My 12 weeks old baby has been coughing since a few weeks back. Started with one or two coughs a day. Now she coughs about about 5 to 6 coughs a day. Yeatsrday she had 3 coughs when she was sleeping. Obviously her coughs are more now. Is it possible that its whooping cough or am I just too worried?
She would also sneeze one to 3 times a day sometimes, but the sneezing had been there since a few days after birth so we thought it is quite normal.
If she had whooping cough, she would have a high fever and difficulty breathing. She would cough until she vomited. Sounds to me like the problem is that the air she is breathing in is too dry. Perhaps she has allergies to something in your house.
Take her to a doctor and find out why she is coughing

I just took my baby to the dr for a bad cough and sneezing today. Whooping cough or pertussis is a contagious respiratory disease caused by the B. pertussis bacterium. The disease is spread by coughing or sneezing. Thick mucous builds up in the lungs and clogs air passages, triggering violent coughing spells. It can be quite serious, especially for young infants with tiny air passages. The fatality rate is highest in infants under six months of age. The effects of toxins in the B. pertussis bacteria can produce high fever, convulsions, brain damage and death. Take her the dr and make sure. My little ones dr stuck this little wooden paddle in her throat and said if she started coughing and coughing and couldn’t stop for a while it would the whooping cough but because she only coughs a few times a day and the way it sounded it wasn’t. I’d take her to the dr to make sure. They also tested my baby for something called ROS which they say is going around. Watch for fever also. To break up your baby’s mucus use a cool air humidifier in the room or use saline and then suck out any mucus you can. Good luck!
