How do people get high off cough syrup?

Robitussin for instance, how do people get high from that? Is it just if you take enough? Do you get close to overdosing when trying to get high from Robitussin?
anyway, I guess what I am asking is …how much of a cough syrup are you supposed to take?
Can you die from it if you are also taking anti depressants or whatnot?
(no i am not planning to do it). I just hear a lot about this and got curious so don’t lecture
There’s a chemical in cough syrup called DXM and in large amounts it can make you high. How much you take is dependant on your body weight and on how high you want to get. People that enjoy getting high off of DXM say that you can’t overdose, which is untrue. A kid my boyfriend used to be friends with died of a robitussin overdose just a few months ago. And drinking large quantities of cough syrup is really, really awful for numerous organs in your body. Just because it’s technically legal doesn’t mean it’s safe, most illegal drugs are much safer than chugging robitussin. And it’s dangerous to take if you’re taking MAOI’s or SSRI’s I believe.

robitussin contains dextromethorphan, when taken in large amounts it can give you a euphoria and an lsd like effect.

If you take it if you have a anti depresent which is a SSRI you’ll have serotonin syndrome and possibly die.

it has to have Pseudoephedrine. and you dont get high u robotrip. it sux. plus robitussen is like 10 bux a bottle and it gives you a stomach ache. buy a dime bag instead.

Only Cough meds with DXM as the only drug can be used other meds can be fatal. Also DXM and MAOIs can also be vary bad lots of antidepressant are MAOIs or SSRI s

Robitussin is a brand name of cough medicine. The ingredient in it called dextramathoraphan (D.X.M. or Dex) is what people get high off of. Taking cough medicine is usually know as robo-trippin. You take the amount you want according to your weight. You can either get buzzed off of it, trip from it, or get so high you trip the *@*> out!
If you are 120 lbs or under:
<300mg = buzzed
300-500mg = trippin out
500-1000mg = goin crazy
if you are 120-160 lbs:
<500mg = buzzed
500-1000mg = trippin out
1000-1500mg = goin crazy
if you are 160 and up (slighty increase mg if you are much heavier):
<1000mg = buzzed
1000-1500mg = trippin out
1500-2000mg = goin crazy
These are rogh estimates of what you would take. There are a few other ingredients in common cough medicines you must watch out for. First is acetaminophen. There can be high mg content in some cough medicine brands and acetaminophen in high amounts is terrible for your liver, so you need to make sure you don’t take cough meds with that ingredient. The second ingredient is guaifenesin. This ingredient can upset up your stomach. If you have a strong stomach and don’t puke a lot then don’t worry. But I have a friend with a very weak stomach and if he doesn’t buy cough medicine without guaifenesin he spends half of his high puking.
A tolerance can be built to cough medicines but I would suggest taking more than 2000mg at one time.
The side effects of dextramathoraphan is the same every time. It’s really trrippy, sometimes you see things, usually you can’t walk (with higher mg’s). It’s really like a basic LSD trip. There are plenty of vids of people on YouTube robotrippin if you really wanna see.
One last thing abut robotrippin is after takin the pills or drinking the syrup, it takes about an hour to kick in. So DONT just keep taking more thinking your not getting high. A usual high lasts about 3-5 hours.
Oh and it can be bad for you if your taking anti-depressents with it, but no deathly side effects. I’ve taken the two together before.
Anyway that was like the full run down lol. I hope this has helped and now u know what people r talkin about when they say their getting high off of cough medicine.
