I have been smoking weed since the age of 15. I started smoking everyday when i turned 16. I am now 18 and i have my medicinal marijuana card and i smoke 3 bowls a day. I recently noticed that I cough every time I take a hit. It doesn’t matter if its from a pipe, joint, or blunt. I’ve also noticed that I cough up lots and lots of phlegm. The cough lasts all day and my parents are getting worried that my cough hasn’t gone away after 3 weeks.

I got emphysema from smoking weed, which includes chronic cough.

Weed doesn’t cause any other illness, it doesn’t cause lung cancer, you can’t die from it…etc etc

But the only thing you can get from smoking too much weed is emphysema, which most kids do not know, it usually starts with a cough that lasts up to 4-6 weeks.

You’re too young to worry about it being emphysema, however, you should keep that word in the back of your head.

I’m wondering how you managed to obtain a prescription for medicinal marijuana. What problems could you possibly have at your age to warrant such a thing?

You may have found a loophole to buck the system, but you’re only doing yourself harm. Coughing is the body’s way of telling you "I DON’T WANT THAT STUFF IN THERE!!!" But self-gratification wins out and you make your lungs suffer as a result.

The dangers of marijuana are the same as the dangers of smoking tobacco. Both substances have a sticky residue that builds up in the lungs, blocking the absorption of oxygen to the blood. This carries some pretty serious consequences, my friend. The reason the body is able to fight off disease is because the salt we eat removes toxins that turn the body acidic. Oxygen, too plays an important role. Disease thrives in an acidic environment, but can’t live in an oxygenated environment.

So, while you’re having fun with your weed, you’re blocking access for the oxygen to enter the bloodstream. You’re creating an environment for problems to develop.

The reason that your developing a cough is because the only time you breath deeply is when you smoke weed. Smoking weed isn’t your problem. You need to move your a$$ and breath deep without smoking weed. Many people that live sedentary lifestyles get this, simply because your not using your full lung capacity, and they need to be exercised regularly. Weed prevents lung cancer, tumors and cures asthma attacks, but often makes you less active. You need to exercise hard on a regular basis. Also, if you had a stuffy nose recently, it will ALWAYS go into your lungs and cause a cough. The reason why every bone head in the fall and spring gets treated for respiratory infection with antibiotics, and it’s really nothing more than the snot left over seasonal allergies. That’s why we now have antibiotic resistant bacteria. Keep coughing up phlegm, weed actually helps with making coughing more productive so that you can get rid of the phlegm. I’m in my 30′s run circles around most people, train in MMA, play basketball, and smoke weed. You just need to cough that s%!$ up, move your a$$, and breath deep without smoke going into your lungs.

To all that think I’m full of it on my claims. Remember that drug companies sponsor the publication of any study to prevent marijuana from becoming more popular because it threatens many synthetic drugs and treatments that earn billions of $$. Just check the Herbal Physician’s Desk Reference. All the real info is there. But here is a little taste.

    I would move to vaping.
It’s much easier on your lungs and you’ll use a 1/4 the weed per hit.
Plus no sucking in butane from the lighter, and it’s closer to oderless.

I have one of these and it’s wonderful. Plus they come with a lifetime warranty that even covers stupidity and being broken by parents/cops. ^.^

Yes and no. 3 bowls a day isn’t too much, I know people who smoke more than that, and are fully functional members of society. Don’t listen to people that say "oh don’t smoke pot its bad," they are ignorant and believe the lies they are fed by the media. In my opinion, stop smoking blunts. They are unhealthy as they still have tobacco. My advice…invest in a bong or vaporizer, or even a little 50$ bubbler. It makes the smoke much less harsh, and in a few days you should notice the cough going away. If not, take a week or 2 off from smoking, and then use the bong/vape.
