to get high. Teens want to get high because being a teen sucks donkey balls. Especially if you live in a shoddy, run down country like the US of A where kids are treated like cow turds.

I have a doctor appointment today and I actually have a cold. Scratchy throat, congestion, coughing flem, and sneezing constantly. I want the codeine kind. yes I’m really sick and yes I really like cough syrup. Am I a good candidate or only slightly a candidate for cough syrup and if only slightly what else should I spit to the doc?

Ehh, I don’t think a doctor is going to give you codeine cough syrup just for a scratchy throat. Usually they only give the syrup to children (because it’s not a high dose) or people that have mildly pulled a muscle or something. He’ll probably just tell you to take some Tylenol.

If you really want it, though, try saying that your throat is really bothering you and the codeine syrup has really helped you in the past. If you don’t have a history of trying to get meds out of your doctor, he might write you a script, but if he’s more conservative about giving out controlled substances, he’ll tell you to take something OTC.

I used to take the cough gels and I’ll admit I enjoyed it. But I began to have concerns for my heath, and the last time I took it I got really sick, which was a long time ago. I don’t know if the formula changed, or if I personally just didn’t like it.

But if someone has a cold, I see nothing wrong with them taking cough syrup with DXM in it. Please give me your opinion.

pretty sure it is restricted to 18 years or older at least in Oklahoma.. thought it was the entire US.

i Have a terrible cough and the cough syrup tastes horrid. Any ideas on how to make it taste better like adding something?

It is just a sip you have to take, so if i were you I would take a little sip of sprite or gingerale then take the medicine and then take another sip of the soda. Shouldnt be too bad.

They also sell cough medicine in pill form, if you feel like buying something new.

I am recently trying Buckley’s cough syrup for a bad cough and was just curious on what color it is suppose to be. The stuff I got is like a whitish color I think, it taste so bad want to make sure I am taking medicine that is still good. Please help.

Haha, There is nothing wrong with it. Buckleys is, and always has been, a creamy white color, similar to that of milk (but tastes trillions of times worse). All cough syrup, from my experience, tastes awful, but Vicks is slightly more tolerable from what I’ve tasted.

If I were you, I’d go out and get some Halls Fruit Breezers. They’re really tasty cough drops and taste like sweet (not overly so) candy.

I think it only would give you a high if it has dextromethorphen in it. Don’t kill yourself.

Okay, if you buy cough syrup that says 10% alcohol, how much is in each dose taken? Is it 10% in each dose like a shot of liquor would be or is it a different amount?
How is a dose of cough syrup compared to drinking a shot of whiskey, wine cooler, beer?

It depends, 10% = 20 proof. So no, it’s nothing like a shot of liquor, much much less. Figure a shot is one ounce, jigger is an ounce and a half. Scotch (per say) is 80 proof, which is 40% alcohol, look at it from that point.

I am having severe allergy problems, at this point, I’ve been coughing and sneezing so much that my voice is gone. Is it ok for me to take a benadryl (diphenhydramine hydrochloride) and cough syrup DM (dextromethorphan Hbr and Guaifenesin) at the same time? I haven’t taken either one yet, so if you have any other advice for my allergy problems that would be great.

Yes you can take the two together. However, don’t if you plan on driving or operating machinery. Field sobriety checks will indicate you are DUII. There are no known negative drug interaction between these medications and they do not duplicate treatments. DM is an expectorant and cough suppressant and has no antihistamine capacity.

I heard that you can get high off of cough syrup, but I also heard you can over dose on it and die. What is the ingredient that if over dosed on would kill you? How much of that ingredient does it take to kill someone?
Oh no no no it’s not 99% alcohol, the DXM in it is what get’s you high, but what other ingredients can kill you (besides the DXM)?

If it’s prescription cough syrup it would contain a narcotic, and that would be the most dangerous thing.

Then, like as you mentioned there is the Dextromethorphan, that people get high off.

There is Tylenol, that you can overdose on.
Nyquill and other multi-symptom cough syrups have some in it.

The only other thing I can think of would be Sudafed, but that’s behind the counters now.
It’s not so easy to get.
If you have enough of it, it can kill you.
It will cause your heart to speed up and work too hard.

If you took these through cough syrup, you’d have to take a ton of it to kill you.
And it’d be very ugly.
