How long does it take for Kennel Cough to show up?
17.May, 2010
My neighbors’ dog has kennel cough and both my dogs were playing with her last night. Ruby (my neighbors’ puppy) started coughing this morning, and he knew something wasn’t right so he took her to the vet. I was just wondering how long should I keep an eye out for my dogs to develop symptoms.
Thank you very much. Very helpful! And, of course, they will be away from all other dogs for at least 2 weeks to be on the safe side!!
The incubation time is 5-14 days
Kennel cough itself can last 3+ weeks
Kennel cough is highly contagious, make sure you keep your dog away from any others..Being that your dog was exposed she more than likely has contracted the virus.
A few weeks back my doctor recommended I take Aleve to relieve myself of my back pain. But just recently I got a sore throat and began to take Flu and Sore Throat cough syrup. I just took Aleve a few minutes ago, and it’s recommended I take the cough syrup every 4 hours (and it’s been 4 hours). I don’t know if taking the syrup will mesh with the Aleve I just took.
you should be fine, unless the cough syrup has ibuprofen in it, but since you said the cough medicine says every 4 hours its probably just tylenol so your good as far i can tell
My girlfriend has moved to South Korea to teach english and keeps getting a cough that doesn’t go away. Would it be illegal to ship cough syrup or cough drops from the USA to her in South Korea in one of my care packages?
Not illegal so much - But it will be removed from the package when it goes through customs because it is not allowed to be imported. They do check the packages - You might get lucky and get it through, but most likely it will be removed.
Will I also start to believe in a fake sport if a wrestling fan coughs on me? Is wrestling fandom contagious?
13.May, 2010
Also, is there a known cure for this disease, or will I forever delude myself into believing in a pseudo sport?
Haha. Love the Q. Don’t worry about getting coughed on, just never wrestle. If you do, then yes, you will get the disease and will forever believe it is a sport. Luckily it is not transmitted through the air.
Whooping cough treatment?
13.May, 2010
my mother has whooping cough and is into the third day with coughing fits. Is there any pills or quick treatments that can solve this?
You might want to get her into the hospital before she coughs herself to death. This is a bad disease if it’s really whooping cough. Can be bronchitis - and it can be treated with Prednisone - a good big dose - starting at 40 mgs probably. But you should be talking to a doctor about this.
What are some home remedies to sooth a cough?
09.May, 2010
So i have this really bad cough and i ate all my cough drops and i have no medicine and i can’t get any till tomorrow. Is there anything that i can make at home that can sooth it?
Can’t believe no one has submitted "grandma’s home remedy." Whiskey, honey, and lemon — equal portions of whiskey and honey with a squirt of lemon juice. Take a tablespoon at a time. We took it as kids (oh the horror!) but it really did work. (Take enough and you don’t care if you have a cough LOL!) The lemon breaks up mucus, the whiskey numbs the raw nerves, and the honey soothes — basically the same thing cough medicine does but without the unnatural chemicals.
My dog is about eight years old and sometimes, when he coughs, it sounds like he is coughing up a hairball! He coughs like this about two times every fifteen minutes or he coughs when he is running.
No it’s not normal. This could be anything from Heartworms to Congestive Heart Failure. Take the dog to the Vet for a proper diagnosis.
What are some good home remedies to stop coughing?
06.May, 2010
These past two weeks I was sick with this mixture of a head cold, the flu, and some bronchitis thing, not my best week! So now I’m much better, but all I have now is this dry cough. I won’t stop coughing. It’s the worst at night and it’s just a nuisance, I am getting a major ab workout on the upside though. Does anyone have any good remedies to just make me stop coughing? Much appreciated! Thanks everyone!
Though we have no cure for the common cold and flu, we do have natural options in the alleviation of the nagging symptoms that accompany such ailments. Stuffy, congested nasal cavities, itchy, watery eyes and scratchy throat with a cough are a few of the most common of these symptoms. We can easily and safely diminish such irritations with the use of natural herbal home remedies and a vaporizer.
One popular and very effective herbal remedy combines the use of the essentials oils of the eucalyptus plant and the peppermint plant. The natural characteristics of eucalyptus and peppermint plants provide soothing properties to the respiratory system. When these plants are vaporized, the soothing natural active ingredients are released into the vapor. The vapor takes on a form that can be easily absorbed by the body through the bronchial tubes and nasal passages. The process is simple and effective.
Begin by placing your herbal material in the appropriate filling chamber of the vaporizer. Careful to not overfill, place just enough material in the vaporizer for a single use as any excess materials should be discarded upon the completion of vaporization. Depending on the type of vaporizer used, you may need to attach the vapor capture device to the machine. Otherwise, if the device is designed to be a room vaporizer, no attachment is necessary.
Next, turn on the heating element of the vaporizer. Eucalyptus and peppermint vaporize to maximum potency at 254 degrees Fahrenheit. Be sure to heat the herbs to this temperature to achieve the greatest benefit and the best soothing relief of symptoms. By properly heating the herbal substance, a good concentration of vapor is achieved. The vapor is denser with active ingredients and contains less air. Once the solution is heated, the vapor is created and fills the air or capture device.
For optimum relief of cold and flu symptoms, a slow and steady inhalation of vapors is recommended. Allow the vapor to fill the sinus passages as the eucalyptus and peppermint open the nasal cavities and calm irritated passageways. Inhale the vapor into the lungs to calm the bronchial tubes and soothe the inflamed airways. This will alleviate coughing due to irritation and congestion and also relieves a scratchy throat.
Natural herbal medicine is practiced by cultures around the globe and has been for centuries. Cold and flu are very common illnesses that can drastically affect our daily activities. Combining the natural home remedy of eucalyptus and peppermint with the technology of a vaporizer can provide great relief from symptoms of these ailments and allow you to get back to normal activities with a safe and effective process
Is it only in movie that a patient affected from Lung Cancer or Tuberculosis coughs heavily?
04.May, 2010
Is it only in movies that a patient affected from Lung Cancer or Tuberculosis coughs heavily and coughs/vomits blood or does it happen in real life too.
It definitely happens quite often in real life.
I’ve seen many hundreds of lung cancer patients.
I have seen five patients who started coughing up blood with lung cancers and died of hemorrhaging within minutes. The lung cancer erodes into a major blood vessel and the end is quick.
People with tuberculosis also cough up blood, but I have not seen many TB patients.
I have Cystic Fibrosis and i have been coughing up yellow and green mucus and waking up sweating ???
I also havent been in the hospital for 5 years so what kind of infection could it be ?
Sounds like an infection…
