I have had a really bad cough for about 4 days now and someone told me it was because of phlegm and i had to cough it up but every time the phlegm is in my throat it won’t come up any further and just go back down, i have tried coughing really hard to force it out but it just stays at the top of my throat and goes back down so any easy way to cough it up or get rid of it without coughing???

If the phlegm is deep in your lungs, the homeopathic remedy: "Umcka" ,
OR, the herb "Mullein *leaf*" will stimulate your body to move it on out.
If it isn’t that deep, and you aren’t allergic to it, Echinacea angustifolia root (another herb) is a wonderful expectorant! Cayenne / Capsaicin (another herb) is also excellent!

BUT, for ANY of those to work, you HAVE to be WELL HYDRATED!!!
Otherwise, the phlegm will be too dry & stuck inside, for you to get it out, no matter how hard you cough! So . . . Be sure to drink a minimum of 1 qt. of plain water for every 50 lbs. that you weigh.
A hot bath, &, breathing steam may also help.

Germs, viruses, & parasites find mucus to be a wonderful place to hide from the body’s immune system, and, reproduce. So, *get with it*!

my father (48 years) is suffring from this problem form 15-17 years. this was happend due to the inhalation of smoke of acid reaction as he is a battery maker. he sneezes many times a day.

This means he is having Allergic rhinitis, possible culprit is the acid fumes. The best natural way of treating this problem is avoidance of exposure to the offending agent or else problem will not subside to what ever medications that are being used.

When you cough it up, is it unhealthy to swallow it back in?

Phlegm comes from your lungs and throat passages. There will obviously be times where you don’t have a choice but to swallow the phlegm but generally you are better off getting rid of it. It won’t hurt you to swallow it but it might re-introduce it back into your respiratory system.

Well, I have a dry itchy throat and i don’t like to use cough syrup.
I tried honey and it helped but Is there anything else I can use.

there is this tea that you can make with cinnamon water lemon and honey that helps A LOT!:D
